THE CONVENT OF THE SACRED HEART / NEW YORK, NY

PRESERVATION, MASTER PLANNING AND RESTORATION OF THE FORMER HOMES OF THE OTTO KAHN AND JAMES BURDEN FAMILIES

The  Otto and Addie Kahn House at 1 East 91st Street and the James and Florence Burden House at 7 East 91st Street and the are now home to the Convent of the Sacred Heart School located in the Carnegie Hill Historic District. Easton Architects has prepared an Existing Conditions Assessment and Master Plan for the complex’s historic fabric and infrastructure including materials, structure, building systems, finishes and tapestries. The Master Plan has guided the on-going restoration and renovation work which includes the Courtyard Restoration, Bridge Rehabilitation, Window Restoration, Roof Reconstruction and Cornice and Balustrade Restoration  With the assistance of Ms. Easton, CSH has been awarded a grant from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund for the Courtyard Restoration which was a recipient of the Lucy Moses Award and Restoration Award from the Friends of the Upper East Side.
