RECREATION OF AN HISTORIC STRUCTURE DEDICATED AS THE 9/11 MEMORIAL
Easton Architects was asked to design the 9/11 Memorial in Rye, NY honoring the 13 Rye citizens who lost their lives on that fateful day. In working together with the Memorial Committee, it was determined to recreate a lost piece of the past, a gazebo that once sat in the town green but had been demolished decades ago. Research and documentation was performed to determine the appropriate scale, materials and site location. Each of the 13 victims names are memorialized on bronze plaques with their signatures that were incorporated into the design of the cap railing that encloses the interior distinguished by the engraved granite memorial set into the floor.
